My OA moment, Turtles By the Sea
It all started with a typical frantic Atlanta family trying to leave town for vacation. One more phone call, one more email, forgotten items for the trip and last minute errands had made us two hours past our expected departure just in time to hit gridlock Atlanta traffic. We were stressed and irritated causing that trivial family bickering we are all guilty of when in a hurry. Comments such as “now we are going to get to the beach too late to swim” or “it is going to take us twice as long” were filling our car conversation.
At last, we arrived at the beach and we all went straight to the beach for a quick look before darkness thinking the entire time our delays had cheated us of some precious time on the beach. Then at the exact moment we stepped foot on the sand, hundreds of small baby sea turtles (clutch, hatchlings) began their journey from their nest to the sea. We froze in amazement. We were the only ones on the beach. It was breathtaking, a truly Ordinarily Amazing moment. We witnessed the entire journey and every baby sea turtle made it to the sea.
The very last minute “to-dos” we were cursing just hours before, we were now so thankful for—as those “life tasks” were what had forced us to arrive at the beach at that exact moment. I believe God had a hand in that plan.
We are so thankful for our Turtles By the Sea OA moment. We hope by sharing our OA moment it reminds us all to notice and appreciate our OA moments.
