My Mommy

My mother is Ordinarily Amazing because of how naturally amazing she is in her everyday life. She wears snake skin to Thanksgiving dinner and leopard heels to the zoo. She supports everyone and takes on everything. She is wife to a surgeon who works long and unusual hours and caregiver/daughter to her 86 year old mother who isn't with it enough to appreciate everything she does. She is Mom to 4 and Grammy to 3. She sends over 600 Christmas cards each year and could tell you everything about each recipient because each one is equally important to her. She knows everyone in town and everyone in town knows her. She is unselfish, of course, and did I mention that she bakes a wonderful apple pie? She enjoys using her "good" China any chance she gets. She can't get enough of a good party and loves a weekend getaway to the casino.

My mom is blunt and to-the-point on all things, unaware of exactly how blunt she can be. You have to learn to appreciate this about her and love her honesty because if you don't she will unknowingly offend you at least once. I believe I've inherited that trait from her. She is brilliant at Scrabble and her competitive side will beg you to play her every night over a glass of wine. She will drive 6 hours to see an old friend for 1. She is funny and is always embarrassing, especially when I was a teenager. She takes more photographs than anyone would ever look at with the chance that she'll get a couple good shots. She is forever on a diet, but looks beautiful at any weight.

She is a Christian woman who I admire and respect. Family is number one priority in my mother's life, and for that we do not thank her enough.

My mother is my hero. I love her and she is 100% Ordinarily Amazing!
