Tears + Car = New Friends
Something out of the ordinary happened Saturday morning. My car was broken into. Everyone kept mentioning how lucky I was that nothing of value--money, iPod, computer--was stolen, but I would give all those things away to get the lost notebook back. I'm a college senior, that notebook contains all my lectures and notes for the rest of the semester, and now it's gone.
As bummed as I am about what happened, I have been even more moved at everyone's support. My boyfriend spent three hours vacuuming the glass from my car and repairing the window. I would not have even known where to start with the car. It's been 2 days since the theft, and already friends from school have e-mailed me, sending their sympathies as well as their lecture notes for me to copy.
It probably took five minutes for someone to send me their notes, but for me that represented a semester of work and dedication. I'm still reeling from what happened to my car, but I get the feeling that what I will remember most is the extraordinary help from those I love.
