My OA Boss
She was the perfect mentor for someone like me. She was a confident woman, always had a strong opinion while still having the insight to listen to others opinions. She was the only female senior team member, but never used that as an advantage nor as excuse. If the subject ever came up, she would say, “ If I can not excel in this job regardless of a good or bad environment then I have no business being in this job."
She taught me through example to never play victim, to make a difference in every job and move on with confidence when the time is right. She treated the secretary, the CEO, the customer service rep and Board members all the same. She looked everyone in the eye when she talked to them and listened with genuine interest to their comments. She had high expectations and was honest and constructive in her critique of employees, always with the intent to make each one better. She was truly an OA boss, something I strive to be today.
